The New Rhodes 73 Mark 7 Testimonials

I've just received the Rhodes in an excellent condition. Fedex did really handle it with care. The Rhodes looks great and I'm very happy.

It’s a great instrument. The cabinet looks magnificent and the black road touch finish is very appealing. The sound is exactly what you expect when buying a Rhodes piano. The touch and feel of the keybed is unbeatable.
Joe, thank you very much for this gorgeous instrument.

I wish you all the very best.

Best,

Gerald Polanz

Bridge Studios is the first Recording Studio in the world to own one of the new Rhodes, according to Joe Brandstetter CEO of the Rhodes Corp. "We were so excited to unveil the piano in all it's red gloss glory when it arrived" says Paul Andrews, owner of the studio.

After nearly three years of anticipation, while the Rhodes Corporation finalized design and manufacturing, we can truly say it was well worth the wait. After which, Paul was able to compare the new Mark 7A with the studio's original 1974 Mark 1, and in a word..."WOW" what a difference! The Mark 7A has a beautiful forward presence and warmth that far surpasses the Mark 1. That's just the passive signal! As far as the electronics are concerned.... Rhodes not only provided all the tonal control one needs, but also spared no expense in sound quality. We will have no problems running the signal line-in to our favorite pre amps and recording straight out of the piano itself. It's that good!

Coupling all this with the much improved action and feel of the keys, makes this an instant hit. We are honored to be a part of the new Rhodes legacy and know our clientele will love recording on a newly designed classic!

Well,,,,,,

''touch and feel is dead on.''

''Ab-soul-lute-lee B U T full...............the black finish is outstanding.''

''Pre Amp sounds really great, not muddy like older models. I really like going out the send and adding Moog,Mxr, and boss effects for a crazy killer cool sounds''.

''Most of all, the keybed and the tone is Genuine Rhodes. Samples are just that samples
This is REAL, no subsututions...''

I recently purchased a new Rhodes Mark 7,73A model.
As a professional acoustic piano and electric piano tech, I must say the new Rhodes Mark 7 is absolutely stunning! This is a 100% genuine, brand new Rhodes electric piano. I have been waiting for the moment to buy a new Rhodes ever since the 1970s,but being just a teen then, the price was out of reach for me. I settled for a few worn Mark 1's over the years, but I was never really satisfied. There is no comparison between an older worn out model, and a brand new unit. It's like the difference between a brand new car and an old car.Yes, they are both cars, and the old car may work, but no matter how much work you put into it, it will never be a brand new car again. Ah yes, you can spend all kinds of money to completely restore it, but then it costs as much (or more) as a new model anyway.

The touch, tone, and pre amp with stereo tremelo (and stereo headphone amp) of the Mark 7 are out of this world. There is no key bounce,no hammer bounce, no key wobble,no clicking and clacking noises,no parts out of alignment. The hammer line is perfectly straight,as it should be.

The finish is absolutely gorgeous, but it is not as durable as the old, boring tolex.

The cabinet is lighter than the originals, but I highly recommend a case for the gigging musician.

Aesthetically, the Mark 7 Rhodes pays tribute to its predecessors and to an era of a simpler time that we now look back to nostalgically. Our modern culture seems to continually get more complex and faster paced. We're almost obsessed with having more and more options, doing things in less time, and all so we can spend more time doing more of something else. For me, the Rhodes is an antithetical response to our culture gone slightly askew. Like a Steinway piano, the Rhodes has just one sound, but oh, what a glorious sound that is (My choice being the classic active model. Of course the new midi-version has multi-voice capabilities). The Rhodes may be unapologetically heavy, but it's built with solid wooden keys, a solid metal harp assembly, and with a state-of-mind that this is a real-life musical instrument you are going to want to pass down in the family for generations to come.

The Mark 7 Rhodes has a slick new exterior, and a new and improved action which affords the instrument a very natural feel, and smoother tone regulation. At its core, however, is the traditional Rhodes harp assembly. This is precisely why this new instrument retains its classic sound. Though many have tried to duplicate the Rhodes sound, nothing is quite like the real thing.

Relevant Anecdote
Some years ago I was attempting to voice the hammers of a Yamaha grand piano to get a richer sound, similar to a Steinway piano. After several trials, a musician friend of mine pulled me aside and offered me some sage advice: "If you want your piano to sound like a Steinway, buy a Steinway." It seems so obviously clear to me now. Likewise, if you want a keyboard that sounds like a Rhodes, buy a Rhodes piano.
